The new Mekong - Don Khong Island bridge in the Mekong 4000 islands was officially opened on 23 November 2014.

The bridge is 718 metres long, 11 metres wide, took 34 months to build & links Don Khong island with the main land.

Total cost of the bridge was US$34.12 million, with 95% funded by China & 5% by Laos.

Some GT Riders used the bridge last week before the official opening.

They don’t muck around when it comes to building bridges.

This is the same bridge in January.

The bike ferry which BrianBkk and myself used to get across in 2001, near where the new bridge is now located.

If you want to get off the island on the other side of the river, there is still the more exotic form of transport.
