High-tech 3-wheel contraption spotted on CM/Lamphun Road

As I was paying for my newly-repaired saddlebags I spotted this vehicle being labeled near Narung's seat repair shop. Maybe someone can tell me what these students from Saraphi Tech & Mgt College put together:

My guess is that it would be to enter one of these conservation minded competitions where they give you a certain amount of standard fuel and you have to design a vehicle that will go the farthest on it, hence the wind resistance profile. Maybe worth checking up on their website, but probably have to read Thai

My initial thought was that it was one of these Pedal Prix entrants but the one in the pic appears to have an exhaust so probably what John said.

Thanks guys. I see the exhaust and the rear-view mirror. That is one tight squeeze unless there is a camera inside. Hmmm....
