Did a quick trip to Chiang Mai in the truck today to buy some homey stuff. It seems that workgangs have been busy repairing potholes and minor washouts along the road in the hills. Please, however, be careful if riding up to Pai as the gangs have dressed the repairs with loose gravel. I expect it will soon be cleared or dissipate as traffic crosses, but for the moment treat any dark patches you see in the distance on the road, as potentially slippery.

Have been on this road the last 2 days, loose gravel is nearly gone but buffalo/cow manure still there and slippery. Most holes have been patched up, road has also been washed by the rains so not as slippery as usual with all the sooth on it. Cheers, FR
