Kawasaki confirmed at the motorshow the Z1000 would be available for sale in Thailand for bht590,000. The bike they had put up for display was the Z1000 which is the naked version. More appealing is the Z1000 SX (US) or the NInja 1000, with the full fairing and adjustable wind shield. Will be interesting to see which model is released by kawa.

Great going kawa!

Great to see another stunning bike here. The Z-1000 looks great but it's not for me, such a powerful bike without any wind protection is a bit weird. The SX/Ninja would make more sense (are those really the same?) - the Ninja 1000 looks awesome. But... for just a little bit more the ZX-10R made more sense, I think. The Ninja1000 is _really_ heavy...

Just been looking at specs and the Z1000 ABS weights only 221kg, with the Versys at 209kg with ABS quite amazing would have thought a lot more. Versys 64ps and 61Nm, Z1000 138ps and 110Nm do love the torque figures, bit sad to see fuel capacity only 15L
Time will tell which model they will bring, still think its about 100k to much at 590k.

228 kg for the Ninja 1000, 206 for the Versys according to the Kawa page CA. Interestingly, these figures include a full tank of fuel (90%) - didn't know that. That's 4l fuel difference, should be close to 4kg.

25kg more and more than 2x the hp is not a bad trade-off of course. I'd definitely be tempted by the Ninja 1000. USA MSRP Ninja 1000 is 330,000 Baht. Argh! I shouldn't check...

On the display next to the bike it mentioned that it would be available from October this year, the tank of the Ninja 1000 is bigger as Kawa moved the key barrel from the tank to the steer allowing them to make the tank bigger.
Do feel however that the Ninja 1000 looks too similar to a Ninja 650, the naked Z looks much better.

Don't worry about the weight of the Z 1000, you just have to replace the original full exhaust system (collector + muffers= ) by a racing full line Akrapovick and you are going to gain more than 10kgs !!!
the sound of this bike become like an opera to our ears, and even it is fully opened, the noise is not too loud, and the police does not bother so much (like if use yoshimura for instance).
