I went two years ago, and am going this year as well. I stay in KL and take the high speed train to the airport. They then have a feeder bus from the airport to the track. They had a discounted train ticket for all three days. If you stay in KL you can find things to do in the evening. There is nothing much of interest near the circuit.

JohhnyE, Nope...Cititel & Boulevard hotels are 7km from downtown nitelife (Hardrock, Beach Club, etc entertainment area with a host of activities on the side). These hotels are at least 60-70km from the Sepang track.

However, not 300metre from these 2 hotels (located in a Bangkok Mabukong MB style of complex named Mid-Valley Shoping Complex) is the Mid-Valley KTM rail (also connected to Sentral Station)which runs to Nilai (the nearest stop to Sepang track (I believe there is a shuttle of sort which ferry fans to the track from Nilai station)

Night time activities are not only confined to KL HArd Rock area but can also be found in Bangsar, about 3km from Cititel/Boulevard Hotel...There are also sports Bars , eateries (international & local fare), pubs in Mid-Valley Shopping complex.

Taxi fare from Mid-Valley should not be more than RM10.00 (baht8.50+/-) to Bangsar and not more than RM15.00 (B13+/-) to HardRock area...AfterMidnight fare adds 50% premium. However, the concierce should be able to advise you better.

I should be able to join u guys, if my meeting in SHanghai cannot be confirmed :)

Wonder if you could do us a favour please, could you find out the opening and closing times for the bike expo at KLCC for the Thursday and Friday.

I hope to go to the expo Thursday, then out to the track, Friday morning. have sent an email to bike expo asking for opening/closing times, but no reply.

Below banner Davin Unk had made up, just tried it out for size hanging it up on my gate. Will put this on the fence at turn 14, (camp site), and will check on the big screen opposite main grandstand to make sure banner in line with tv camera

http://www.aime.com.my/indoor.html

I have to publicly apologise for the incompetencies of many malaysian organisers when it come to enquiry/reply thru email...whilst many claims to have a careline/toolfreeline/email etcetc...there is:
- almost always zero response
- pass u from this idiot to the next ignoramus
- dead end...

its a malaysian malaise affecting government depts to private enterprises!

On the other hand...malaysia is a developing country...the active verb being the operative word :)...just u guys wait till 2020[:D]

Thanks Joko

I have been thru their AIME web site many times, and find no details of hours of opening I am trying to find the definite hours of closing on Thursday and the opening time on Friday

Re companies replying to emails, we have same same problem here in LOS, I have been sending emails every 3 days to Yamaha Thailand and no reply at all.

"That is your mission Joko, if you decide to accept it".

Decided against the idea of a pink carnation behind the right ear, no knowing who might come up and say "HI"

Ride Thailand to MotoGP 2007

We have organized Ride Thailand to Moto GP for 3 years now which sees bikers from all around Thailand getting together to ride from Thailand to Malaysia each year, with each year sees more people joining the Ride Thailand to Moto GP Malaysian tour. In 2006 there were over 126 Riders from around Thailand, and extra participants which joined the tour either by car and air which made a total of over 400 participants. The organizers ensure that road safety and laws are followed to ensure participants safety and comfort for the duration of the Tour, it is also a great opportunity to make new contacts around Thailand and create greater unity between Thai, Malaysian, and Singaporean bikers with the chance to experience first hand the excitement of the world class motor sport Moto GP at Sepang International Circuit.
For 2007 Ride Thailand organizer and friends wish to invite all riders and interested parties to join this year tour program which will be bigger that previous years due to extra events which will be taking place in Malaysia Kuala Lumpur during the same period. These events include Asian International Motorcycle Expo 2007 (AIME) with bikes, builders and Bikers Products from all around the world, followed by the 14th annual 3 Nations Charity Ride 2007 hosted by Malaysia Superbike Club, and the Moto GP 2007 track side at Sepang International Circuit to see if Valentino Rossi is able to reclaim his lost title this year. On the return trip the tour will be spending an extra night in Penang to enjoy a Dinner party by Ride Thailand with our Malaysian Brothers before making the trip back to Thailand the following day.

TJ (and anyone else going)....time is almost here. No pink carnations, but i'll be at the track on Friday in a "Exile Motorcycles" shirt, on Saturday i'll switch to "Hua Hin Bike Week" and save the GT Riders shirt for the race Sunday. Anyone have ideas for a time and landmark to meet up at?

Gus will be there Friday midday, Me and GF will be wearing bright orange Chivas baseball caps.

Sat. Horizons Unlimited t'shirt, Sun GT Rider polo shirt, Fri/Sat normally sit in grandstand opposite pits of Rossi/Stoner with Bino's, and when they go out on practice, go to stands opposite to see them on back straight

our carnations have wilted now......but you should see us in our orange Chivas hats

Just got in from the Bike show, mainly for Harley guys, lost of neat custom bikes.

Ducati had a large range of bikes on display, so did KTM even an MV Agusta there

A small selection of real helmets, plus the bik jacket that has air bag fitted

here's hoping for a good display of bikes at the circuit at the week end

Hey TJ,
I am waiting expectantly to see your report on Seppang and related activities.
Please don’t let the fact that you drove down deprive us who couldn’t make it the vicarious pleasure of your eyewitness account.
I sure that as the 2nd most prolific contributor to this board a report is right on the tip of your computer.
I’ll give Dean from Surin a ring this week and see how he got on also.
Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter

Pity you couldn't make it...

Just watched the race now on cable, camera panning too quickly to see our tents, Deans OZ flag, or the GT Rider banner

Have got Dean to write up a trip report, so you may want to 'gee him up on that one'

below link to my report.

Just checkin in, back from Sepang- actually been back all week, but work took up a lot of time- met up with TJ and Elle- TJ's report on the "gossip" thread says it all, i posted some pics there, too.
Special thanx to Joko for all the travel advice. i ended up at the Florida Hotel, 5 min walk from Sentral Station, about 700 baht per night w/ aircon, comfortable bed and hot water, cant ask for more than that. The bus out to the track from Sentral was 8 ringit (80 baht) one way. Had a great time. The Malaysia GP its a definite must do for anyone in Asia. Cant beat the price, the people and the atmosphere.

The sound of those bikes is unreal. They go screaming down the track like the four ladyboys of the apocalypse.
