Reducing the bike's weight

For those that seek to lessen their bike's weight as much as possible,
here's one way...though expensive...to help reduce weight:

Use a lithium-iron battery:

However, it might be cheaper and just as effective, in the long run,
to just cut back on one's calorie intake :|

Lithium batteries tend to degrade rapidly in temperatures beyond 70C.. In Thailand, that may mean cooling the battery box on your bike.

An additional disadvantage is that, dependent on the manufacturer's safety circuit, the battery may be ruined if it's run down to zero charge.

As the OP points out, the internationally recognised alternative weight-saving strategy is less pork pies... :)
