Third Party Insurance for Lao - Where to buy in Thailand?

I'm thinking of taking my bike into Lao next week. Apart from the ownership docs, I understand that compulsory vehicle insurance is necessary for Lao. Can this be purchased in Thailand (I'm in Chiang Mai), or does one buy it at the border crossing point? Thanks.

Just got back from Laos. You can buy at border. Get best cover you can as thai insurance not valid there. You can buy at border town. This advice was given to me from lads on this site and proved very helpful. Enjoy.

Thanks. Is the insurance sold from an Allianz General Lao desk, or from one of the Laoation border guard offices?

Hola alliance general office make sure they put correct cc on paperwork. And you have correct cover for your cc. Enjoy.
