I followed and participated in the whole discussion about health cover actively.
Here is what I did, may be of interest to some of you, and pls dont mind if some of this has been said before.
For me it was imperative to maintain the age and amount-wise unlimited cover of my German insurance, which I have had for some 30 years. It is expensive by Thai standards but it has been proven over and over again to be worth it.
Because of the much lower cost of medical treatment here I had my deductible which I must pay myself increased to the maxium thereby reducing the monthly premium by 50%.
The deductible is €4000 . Meaning I had to pay my Dengue fever bill of €1200 myself.
No problem but I started looking around how to cover the gap. My agent suggested a long term travel insurance covering even more than health, lost documents, luggage, etc.
The premium which I pay for the travel insurance equals to only about 10% of the German premium.
This is meant as food for thought.
I am sure that even more favorable structures are around depending on ones very own needs.

Our group insurance policy is up for renewal in October 2008.
We can offer a new option with a higher level of insurance for those who are interested & so desire.
Currently we have EH3000, but this could be increased to either EH4000 or EH6000.
Please take a look at the below
& look at the premiums & think which one you would like to pay for
EH3000 (maximum 600,000 baht coverage.)
EH4000 (maximum 800,000 baht coverage.)
EH6000 (maximum 1,200,000 baht coverage.)
The "cheap charlie" EH3000 will stay, but we can include a new higher option - EH4000 or EH6000 - for the group.
What are your ideas? _________________ Davidfl

Here's what we are looking at for renewal
1. EH3000 (600,000 baht) with In & Outpatient options.
2. EH4000 (800,000 baht) with In & Outpatient Options
3. EH6000 (1,200,000baht) with In & Outpatient Options.
The original policy was EH3000. There are now 2 higher coverage options. You can pick whichever policy you want. Check out some detail below.
Just waiting for Tony to reconfirm the premiums. Unfortunately because of TJ's heavy claim in the first 12 months there has been a loading. The positive side of this is that the insurance company accepted the claim & paid out to the full.
The policy is up at the end of this month & you will have 2 weeks to pay & remain covered. So please think about it, make a decision which policy & keep yourself covered.
To join, you just need to be a GT Rider, make a health statement, send in your application form, pay your money & you're covered. And the beauty of this policy is that it includes SOS. _________________ Davidfl

My insurance is up for renewal and I'm shopping around.
It appears the GT-Rider Motorcycle/Health Insurance has forgotton about the 'motorcycle' part from what I can see but still looks like a good deal.
I've contacted Tony Dabbs to see what he can offer. |

Friends, the issue of adequate insurance is very close to my heart. I know from own experience that if the shyte hits the fan your insurance premium will turn out to be the best investment in you entire life.
Elle, Tropical John ´s wifes said the bills for his tumor treatment so far were 2 million b.
Noel confirmed that the 1 million b insurance money was eaten up in no time.
If you can afford it, have yourself insured higher. The cover of 1 million or so is not sufficient for anything really serious.
The premium may look like a steal .....
You cant predict the future but you can insure the financial risk.
Take care
