I thought id go up the 108 to Khun Yuam and along the 1263 for a change, its been over a year since I last did this section of the 108 and there are currently no roadworks taking place and there are a couple of new sections, one of which has no lines yet. The surface of one of these new sections is extremely bumpy, you realise how bumpy when you get to the old surface and appreciate its smoothness. The 1263 is a joy to ride, hardly any traffic and the only thing that messed it up for me was being flagged down by some young English guy and agreeing to give him a lift, it seemed rude to say no but theres always next time for the solo ride. At Mae Chaem I went up to Doi Inthanon and down through the national park then the 108 back to Chiang Mai

G'day Captain ... I did the 1263 this week and have to agree, definitely my kind of road and the highlight of my MHS ride.
Still a lot of roadwork going on on the 30- 40 klms between Pai and Pang Ma Pha ... very dusty. Pai was looking a little like Koh San Road as I passed through but MHS seems to have maintained its charm. The road up to Doi Inthanon from Mae cham was a bit stressful on the 125, with a fair bit of traffic thrown into the mix.
Drew.
