Hoping to do the above run on my Thai registered road bike in the next couple of months. Could anyone assist with details of requirements or advice for border crossing formalities. Also any details of distance, petrol availability and road condition would be much appreciated.

Lots of road reports as well. Plenty of petrol, but nothing but regular octane gas once you leave Vientiane.
