rental in bangkok, drop off up north?

hi there,
just wondering if anyone knows fo a rental shop in bangkok, or surrounds where i can get a bike and then leave it in chiang mai or chang rai?

alos i have my bike license and international d.l. bt a freind does not have a bike license, will he be able to rent bikes?

Don't waste your time riding from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. It's boring - hundreds of kms of rice paddies. Start & finish in the North where "all" the good riding is.
