The road from Doi Mae Salong, south towards Tha Ton is being widened & resurfaced for about 10 kms.
If you are on a sports bike it won't be any fun on the very steep winding downhill gravel sections, but going up should be manageable.
At a guess, & all being well, it might be finished in a couple of months.
If this worries you, then take route 1089 Tha Ton - Mae Chan, then take route 1234 from just north of Mae Chan, up to Doi Mae Salong.
