Siam Motor cycle seems good. Have a decent setup. Think they charge 500 baht /hour but if that means the job is done properly i don't mind paying.

There are other thai shops which i'm not going to name but the first thing they do is suck your petrol tank dry. They have it down to a fine art so you just have enough to make it the nearest petrol station.

I can tell you from experience, in Bangkok, from Teera or Red Baron you should expect to pay 50,000 for a brand new green book. TaBien Lote.

If you are spending 300,000 baht & above for liter bikes INSIST on a brand new book - not a recycled one. This will save having your engine & frame numbers filed off & restamped.

This snake way is how my CB400 is registered - it's book was originally a VFR-400. But I have renewed it twice at DMV Sukhumvit Soi 62 with no problems. I paid 25,000 for that "recycled" book at Porn Superbike. Took about 4 months but I drove my bike near home all the time with no problems (with no plate).
    Keep it upright

Yeah, that happened to me recently. Topped up my tank, drove maybe 10 km's. Next day I took it to a friend's shop to have the handlebars changed.
Came back the day after to pick the bike up and he told me they had to drain the tank for some reason, but they were kind enough to put about 4 litres back in.

Another friend told me that if I wanted good work done fairly quickly (on a Harley), take it to Wranglers.
If I wanted good work done.......eventually.......take it to Min's shop (Min being the President of the Burapa MC). He has a little shophouse shop on a small soi just off of Sukhumvit (if you are turning left onto Sukhumvit from Pattaya Tai, the soi is maybe 200 meters down on the left side. On the right side of the soi, just past the Vetrans of Foreign Wars (VFW) outpost is Min's shop.)

The Wranglers website appears to be having problems of late. When I was in Pattaya, on one computer I'd get a message that the site couldn't be found. On another computer, I'd get a page that mentioned something about the site not having paid their webhosting fees or something.
I can get some of the pages to load, but the Contact page doesn't seem to work, and the "Bikes" page doesn't show any listings anymore.

Siam Motorcycles webpage works, but overall, the site needs some improvements. For one thing, nowhere (I can find) on the site does it mention their address or contact info ! Which is quite funny when one page mentions their Recovery Service (just call or contact us !).
The descriptions of the bikes available leaves a lot to be desired as well (Buell - Gray, Honda Shadow - Old, Haley Davidson - Black).
Didn't leave me with much desire or incentive to check out their stock.

I bought my bike through (not "from") Chon Buri Superbikes. It was actually a private sale, they handled the transaction. I did notice that they had a lot of mixed items in there (for different makes and models). Not sure how their service is, but my Thai friends seem to think highly of them.
For those that have fought for it, Freedom has a flavour the protected will never know.

I so far can recommend CHONBURI SUPERBIKES. Chonburi.
I found my Harley there, gonna pick it up soon. The shops in Pattaya left a so/so feeling to me.
I also went to DBigBikes in Bangkok, seems to be a busy operation, but they will build (mostly Japanese Bikes) for you and frankly speaking you never know what you will get. In addition they offer 70,000 Bht for a BKK Book and 35,000 Bht for another province (sorry forgot the name). Their website is [http://www.dbigbike.com]

    Cheers

    Wranglers

Nice people, always good to go there for a chat. I am bringing my Sportster soon for a full service.

    Chonburi Superbike

I can recommend them. Bought my HD there at a reasonable price, came with plates. Needed to transfer the ownership to my wife. They dud everything they promised within 6 weeks. Really no complains, and everytime I go there I am surprised that I never see the same bikes again - so their business must be running strongly!

    Cheers

"Also looking for a rear tyre, Thai made 50/50 dualsport type."
Just my 2 cents experience about Thai made tyres:
With economic crisis on the way I have recently tried the "Duro" Thai brand tyres on my DRZ 400S. They are cheap.
However it's been a total waste of money. On tarmac riding the way I used to with Dunlop D 605 I have lost the rear more than a few times.
I am giving up on these tyres. I have ordered Dunlop and will get them fitted on the bike Monday. The Duro are almost brand new but I wouldn't dare to sell them.
Can't help you about finding rear sprockets in Pattaya.
    Good luck

I used the services of Ms. Toom's shop and garage for a while, she had a small MC shop opposite Tony's Gym but has now moved to Pratumnak Hill. Her husband is a good mechanic and their prices were not high.
Have been riding motorcycles since 1973-and enjoyed every minute of it.

Big Bike Repair Shop - Pattaya

A large bike shop, located on Sukhumvit, on the inland (East) side of the road. It's about 1/2-km past Tesco-Lotus South (heading away from Pattaya), and at the end of the first building just after passing the PTT gas station. There is no signage for the shop and it's easy past unseen by vehicles driving on Sukhumvit.
The shop takes up 3-townhouse floors and has been in business 24-years, 12-years in Naklua and 12 at the present location.
It's a father (K. Sart) & son (K. Maw) operation, which works primarily on big bikes. The son speaks a fair amount of English.

A GT-R member recently posted of this shop, indicating they had lots of used parts kept their back storage room. I went there hoping I could replace the right aluminum chain adjuster on my F650GS, which had been damaged, as pictured in the post below:
    http://www.gt-rider.com/thailand-mot...a-happy-camper!!

I was told to come back the next day. Upon returning, I was told they didn't have the part I needed, but had welded aluminum, and reshaped the weld, on my damaged chain adjuster so it's now looks and fits as good as new!

If your in the Pattaya area, this shop may be of help to you, too!
Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs just need to get used to it.

I used him for years and began to sort of trust him without questioning when I asked him to do stuff, my last visit involved a bill of 15k baht for (so I believed) a new fuel pump - new Fuel pressure regulator - and new battery which I didn't need, my fuel consumption went through the floor so I investigated myself

Fuel pressure regulator was not replaced and was leaking (5k)
Fuel pump was not replaced but repaired, fuel pressure was 25psi instead of 50psi (5k)
    and battery (4k)

I went to see him and asked him what the bill was for that he gave me, told him I would never be back in his shop and would share my experience with as many as I could to warn them off, he became a crook but wasn't always like that.....very unfortunate and disappointing

I now use a guy on Sukumvit just before the Kawaski dealer heading south from pattaya klang

I try to do most of my own work but my next job will be replacing exhaust valves (big job) and the reason for this is the botch up job at road machine causing my bike to run lean due to low fuel pressure

Any recent recommendations for a good workshop in Pattaya?

I went to the one 2 posts earlier, but was disappointed. Damaged my swing arm bearings and changed the fork oil with the wrong and different amount of oil in the forks.

I need to do some engine work, so need someone who knows a torque wrench...

    Cheers,
    Frank

Sorry you had a bad experience with that shop.
I posted of the shop you mentioned, but they only fixed a broken aluminum bracket. I've only been that that one time and never had any mechanical work done there.

I do regularly use 'Nippon Bikes' for service and work on my dirt bike and road bike.
I listed them with directions on the first page of this forum...see post #6.

To be brutally honest you cannot trust any of the Thai mechanics in the Japanese /euro bike shops they are all hit and miss , some of the HD shops are better but they too have ''THAINESS'' days .

Thats why i do ALL my work myself and do remedial jobs for Chatri when his lads are stymied ....
