A ride a day keeps the Doctor away
I wondered what photo you were going to dig up of me?
It's good to see that all your "early" photos are reappearing
I still miss your old bookstore wall of photos
Now where is my scanner & those old photos of you inside "LoveBirds"?

David, seems like Poo Rua in Loei ?? For me that was 19 years ago, can hardly remember the view but seems similar. Cheers, franz

Franz, sorry but you're not in the right part of thecountry. It is in the north & the peaks are about 1500 -1700 metres.Originally Posted by Franz - Eastern Seaboard

If the weather's clear you can get amazing panoramic views all the way to the 'Khong!.

'Golden Oldies' Rule!
It all helps to make us appreciate how easy we have it these days.
Thanks for starting this David and I hope other riders who have been around in Thailand
much longer than I add their own photos and memories.
Just a thought about those 'olde original photos'; are people scanning their negs/prints/slides
and documenting them before it's too late?
Can be a tedious task but can also be extremely rewarding
and offers many 'sentimental journeys' and fond memories.
Yes, this may also bring back some tragic, sad and painful memories too; all part of life.
There may even be a need to have a suitable place to store our/your olde photos etc; they deteriorate
terrible in tropical climes. Maybe a GT-Rider friendly central location?
Sorry, it's the archivist in me!
A truly happy rider is one who can enjoy the scenery along a detour.
Great memories "pappa david" the roads are real adventure stuff and the bikes basic single thumpers.
Now the roads are highways and some of the bikes are worth the same as a house!
Love to see more.

Slow cars that we pass, we call idiots. Fast cars that pass us, we call maniacs.
Reading this topic, it appears some previously posted links are not working. Here is one of the correct links; Chasing Floods = http://www.gt-rider.com/thailand-mot...chasing+floods It shows just how devastating the flash floods can be.![]()
Fascinating images David and thank you for going to the trouble.
Some time ago I read your comment 'I want to give something back'; well, for me at least, posting the golden oldies with documentation is certainly 'giving something back'.
By doing this not only are you acknowledging the importance of your olde pics, you are also helping me/us? appreciate how good we have things here today.
These are very important artefacts and I thank you for sharing them.
Keep 'em coming please, with as much documentation as possible.![]()

Some of these photos give me a feeling that I can describe only in Brazilian Portuguese as saudade. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saudade
I have missed so much by taking up riding from 1980-2010. I will have to live vicariously through these posts and photos.
Some of those dirt roads are still under that asphalt now.....just waiting to come back.

i think MTX125 and XLR250 baja is very new in that time !!!
Thank you for your report
