    1st Laos Trip 1994

Some golden oldies from my original Laos Trips in 94....

    HOUEI XAI - LUANGNAMTHA

I think more than anything it was the stream crossings I always remembered the most.

Then it was the people as usual..

Vieng Phoukha, the main street & centre of town.

Don Chai, still my fave village on the HX - LNT road.

Luang Namtha, the main street in 94.

    MUANG SING
    The Main Street

The Sing Thong Hotel & the only accommodation in town then.

The road Luang Namtha - Muang Sing

The dirt section LNT - Muang Sing.

On the road Luang Namtha - Muang Sing. Great people!

Akha village Luang Namtha - Muang Sing

    Luang Namtha, the main street

Ah yes, those were the days....and who you would have never thought of publishing Laos guide maps back then.

The Muang Sing (Pang Hai) local border crossing to China

German Joe from Joes Bike Team, Chiang Mai, crossing back over to Laos after a short excursion into China. Note the white chalk line on the dirt road where you must stop your bike.

Joe it's time we went for a ride in Laos again.

The same border crossing October 2008

Such a privilege to see these oldies David (the photos I mean!).
    Thank you.
A truly happy rider is one who can enjoy the scenery along a detour.

These shots are valuable memories for Laos lovers. What strikes me the most is to see the same "red/blue bike" on pictures since twenty years! It must have passed the 300K
