This bike has potential, mag wheels and tubeless tyres for starters
I have heard that the price is only going to be around the 100K mark
Perhaps mbox999 has some more details about it to share with us
Hopefully it will be in the shops soon

Wow great, now we have 2x Tiger/Sachs Forum. So that'll keep me busy posting on both now![]()
In regards of the Sachs x-road 250. It is not yet available and currently undergoes emission tests. Once done it shall be available here. This has been earlier explained to me ( dec 2009) it shall for sure happen in 2010, it will be the carbed version and the price is around the 100000 thb . Later, on an yet undisclosed date, there shall also be an FI version x-road for an higher price.
I very much like the look of this bike ...chances are that i get one myself too..but the Ktm's are also giving me a rush![]()

Is the wood block under the sidestand optional or standard equipment?![]()

This is interesting about it coming out as a carbed version as from february Thailand is adopting the Euro 3 emissions and all the carbed Hondas are no longer available for the dealers to order. The Phantom, CBR 150 etc are currently unavailable until the FI models are released unless you can find a carbed one already in a dealers as they are still allowed to sell existing stock. So as the Sachs isnt yet out on the market I wonder how they are being allowed to sell it, mind you it hasnt passed the emissions yet by the sound of itit shall for sure happen in 2010, it will be the carbed version and the price is around the 100000 thb . Later, on an yet undisclosed date, there shall also be an FI version x-road for an higher price.
Very, very nice bike!
I'm impatient to see it in flesh...![]()
IMHO it could easily walk "on the D-Tracker's suedin shoes" if quality and specs are OK: more "original and rocking" design...
I do like its rear mufler under the seat!
Any idea of the specs already mbox?
Carb for Euro3 specs: is it possible?
Cheers,
Gobs
"Don't give up on a good thing!"
Hi Gobs, i have seen it in flesh a few month back at Tigers Factory( i sat on it too, but no drive) and it really looks nice and the sitting felt all fine too. The rear muffler is another thing i really like too. I have no specs available as yet...but will post it as soon as i get them (on tigersachsclub dot com's forum & gt-rider's tiger sachs forum - and of course ssr forum)Originally Posted by gobs
I am not sure if the carb will fit for euro3 ...maybe if they make it able to run e20?(this is pure speculation/guessing from me) ,

Hi captain, you are right that the sachs x-road hasn't passed the test yet...but i am sure they find legal ways to get it done...another option that i recall from prrevious discussions & suggestions was the idea to have a bike run on e85(or making it fuel flexible)? Would a carbed version bike running on e85 pass the euro 3 emissions? I don't know but maybe? Time will tell..and will update once i have more info.Originally Posted by Captain_Slash

Some more pics and specs for the Sachs X-Road 250-
Good lookin' bike!![]()
Really the only thing I don't like is the tiny and cheap looking digital display...
Specs:
Anyone have the HP and Torque figures for the D-Tracker handy? Curious to see how these 250's compare.
For me the X-Road definitely LOOKS like the better of the two and it should be quite a bit cheaper than the Kwacker.

An 11 litre fuel tank, thats good, plus a rack that wasnt there on the earlier photos. The more I see of this bike the more I like it, hopefully it will be of a good reliable quality, its definitely a possible replacement for my Phantom when the time comes
Under seat mufflers look great, BUT, here in this hot country, when moving slowly, they do cook some of the more important parts of the body, and lead to very sweaty thighs!!Originally Posted by gobs

The pillion, however, may get a bit warm...but me thinks the driver will stay as cool as on any other bike.
Time will tell...once we got the bike available we will know more.

Hi Mbox
Yes, see what you are saying, although the hottest bit the exhaust pipe is coming right up between the legs. I mention the heat because of recent experience with the Yamaha R1, two underseat mufflers, very pretty, but a big negative for me was how hot and sweaty I was getting when moving slower in traffic. Maybe the Sachs, being much lower powered will not develop so much heat and it will not be a problem.
Ah, just love hearing about John's sweaty thighs...Originally Posted by johngooding

I think an air cooled 250cc thumper is going to run a whole lot cooler than a Yamaha R1 :P
Hope mbox will let us know when this bike will be available for test rides. I'm very interested!

I understand what you mean, John, as on the FZ6F mufler(s) is (are) under the seat, and very near under the rear part! No "sweaty sights" for me as the driver, even in city traffic...
But as pillion, it may be a bit hot, I confess![]()
By the way, on the X-Road 250, maybe better not to go shopping and bring back home some ice-creams or smelly cheese on the rear rack!

But IMHO, it's a detail on a fun bike...
As Tony, I feel very tempted...
Wait and see!
Cheers

Many good solutions - and I love the low wet weight of under 122 kg. Add the right set of gears and this baby will be fun to ride!
SACHS means German engineering and a proud past. MBOX, you said it's the world's oldest motorcycle maker??

And you're right it's still German engineering , and no matter where that parts come from they sure enforce their German QC on it.

Thats the most important thing to me in a bike, good quality and reliability, its no use having the biggest, fastest, newest, flashiest bike if it keeps on breaking downand no matter where that parts come from they sure enforce their German QC on it.
There are so many potholes even on some highway (like Bangna - Trat) that an enduro is a good choice for Thailand.
the Sachs has a new frame, is light and if the gearbox is good for the engine's characteristic, then we have a winner here!![]()
I wonder if any rental shops consider offering the Tiger boxer 250 RS and this enduro in the future?
Chris
Hoping for a test ride of the Sachs X-Road 250 at the factory visit next month. If it can hold it's own against the Kawasaki D-Tracker and KLX 250 in performance and reliability then it will surely enjoy great success in Thailand.
