Where is tonys place located in Nan,im here but just cant find it and no one knows,,,

If you can find the hospital and 7/11.If you are standing outside 7/11 looking at the main gates to the hospital,turn to your right and take the next left turn, carry on going past the main gates to the army barracks and follow the road around the s on the right..harp bend, as soon as you go around that bend Tonys place is there.If you still cant find us go to my website and theres a detailed map showing the restaurant there.http://www.tonysplacenanthailand.com/

First stop was for breakfast on the 1080 opposite the airport at N18 47.735 E100 46.757




The chef cooking a nice spicy gai phad kapow, these are the only type of Thai meals I eat, at authentic little restaurants where Thais eat.
Its spicy like it should be rather than the bland stuff with about as much flavour as cardboard that you get at restaurants that cater for tourists.
With an authentic Thai price too, 30 Baht

Congratulations as well for the quality of your reports and posts, you could easily compete with the well know French Guide, the famous Michelin Guide http://www.michelinguide.com/ maybe you could apply for the Thai version.

David, maybe you could also extend the "casting part" of the report (LOL).

Khun Rang Pub & Restaurant
the adult pub & restaurant in Nan.
Lots of police / govt officials come here to eat & drink & relax.

Good atmosphere


Good country / songs for life music

including Hotel California. Ho Hum. But it must be S E Asia's "International Anthem." Every band can play it!

Good inexpensive food


Plus attentive service from the twins.

THE TERRACE
riverside & possibly the best food & setting in Nan; or at least one of the most if not the, popular wining & dining establishment on the river.

Tip, the Good View slightly upstream from the Terrace has crap service & poor food.
The Terrace is a winner everytime.

Lasagne,onions and garlic bread 155 Baht

The specials board

Delicious homemade sausage,chips,beans and a bread roll for 120 Baht

The breakfast at Tonys Place, this very tasty filling meal for 150 Baht, I reckon this is the breakfast to go for in Nan. 2 bacon, 2 eggs, sausage, beans, fried bread, mushrooms, white pudding, tomato, (I had fried onions instead) and bubble&squeak (fried mashed potato&cabbage) I left this off and opted for fries instead

Chicken phal 49 Baht and rice 10 Baht, 59 Baht for the complete meal, a bargain for sure

Half a roast chicken with stuffing, fries, beans gravy, onions and chillies for 154 Baht, this was a special and isnt on the menu every day

The special today was roast stuffed loin of pork with gravy,onions plus a double portion of saute potatoes for 149 Baht

Half a duck with orange sauce and rice, this is a special, it was delicious, filling and was only 205 Baht

The special of the day today was chicken cordon bleu, I had a double portion of fries with it which cost me 229 Baht, a well satisfying meal too

A steak, ale and vegetable pie with a double portion of fries at for 159 Baht, typical British pub food and was it filling

A burger tonight, lovely it was too, I was full up with this plus a portion of chips which together came to only 119 Baht

The mixed grill, a very filling meal for 250 Baht,I had extra onions in place of the tomato




Half a rack of ribs and a double portion of fries, delicious they are too, 210 Baht

A whole roast baby chicken, gravy, a double portion of saute potatoes, onions and a yorkshire pudding for 238 Baht, it was lovely

Roast pork knuckle, roast potatoes and gravy tonight for 240 Baht, another one of his specials and a very filling meal

Half a honey roast chicken, gravy and a double portion of saute potatoes for 149 Baht

Finally Tonys Place has pizzas on the menu, 169 Baht for this lovely pizza

John Dory fish and a double portion of fries for 175 Baht

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, cauliflower and gravy 190 Baht

A pork pasta bake and garlic bread, 135 Baht and I was full, lovely it was too

A pork schnitzel with a double portion of fries for 230 Baht

Roast beef, roast potatoes, cauliflower, Yorkshire puddings and gravy for 260 Baht, my most expensive meal here and well worth it

Home cured ham, eggs, chips and beans for 195 Baht

Indian chicken Madras curry

I had an extra portion of rice and it was 120 Baht for a tasty very filling meal

Chicken and cashew nuts with an extra portion of rice for 95 Baht

Chicken massaman and two portions of rice for 110 Baht

Pork en croute or pork wellington, Tony kindly gave me the recipe.
Its pork fillet coated with black pepper, rock salt and garlic then wrapped in bacon and put inside short crust pastry.
I had roast potatoes and cauliflower and gravy.
The gravy was a mix of onions, mushrooms, rosemary, whisky, fresh cream and gravy granules.
Really delicious, very filling and great value at 180 Baht

Braised steak in a mushroom and onion sauce with roast potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower for 230 Baht

Escalope of chicken Neopolitan with macaroni and onions for 145 Baht

A chicken chasseur and a double portion of rice for 180 Baht

Chicken coq ua vin and rice for 210 Baht, truly delicious and very filling indeed, this needed some serious putting away

The guy sitting down is Nigel who makes the bread for Tony's Place amongst others, he now has this mobile burger and hotdog stall at three different street markets, he makes the sausages/burgers too



A very nice sausage indeed

Equally pleasant was the burger, I had two of each for 180 Baht
