In Phonsavan I like the Nice Guest House.
Its cheap $8 per night, has very warm beds, the water in the shower is hot, cable TV from Vietnam. only problem is the walls are thin so you hear everything going on. They also speak English. Its located on the main road into town just past the MAG office. There's off street parking and the gate is closed at night. Tel. 061 312454

Hi David, when I was there in Dec 2008, the young chap doesn't seem to acknowledge the fact that I'm from GT rider to offer me any discount. I even took out the pastic Laos map, but he just ignored that.

Eventually, I went across the road for another GH for half the price.

Sorry no more discount, the owner is in Vientiane & the male staff are no longer as friendly.
However the Nice is still good value for money.
