    Hi guys
    I plan to to go Malaysia via Yala and pass the border at Betong. Does somebody can tell me if it safe?

    Captain Slash just visited that area and spent 4 days or so in the Betong area before heading for Yala so I assume that it is relatively safe over there - see his posts a bit below yours.

    Yes I spent two weeks in Yala and Narathiwat provinces with no problems at all

    In the malaysia part, is is same as Sadao, can I get the malaysian inssurance and road tax at Betong check point border

    I crossed over from Satun not Betong but I would imagine its the same at all crossings, make sure your green book is thanslated into English and that you also have English number plates plus a driving licence thats also in English

    Ive ridden thru Yala on many occasions with no problems at all. During the day quite safe, expect to go thru several army checkpoints. I wouldnt recommend you ride at night though. Betong immigration is somewhat slack compared to Sadao. I actually lived in Betong for 10 months and know it well.

    thanks a lot for all infos anyway driving at night in Thailand is not safe at all in the south or the north
