Tiger X-road 250- first encounter with "dirt" :-)

I was doing a little 115 km x-road ride today ...part of this was also some light offroading . it was good fun and the x-road did pretty well...the only thing i would have wanted ...in the muddy forest knobbed tires would have been a lot better

this was the route i took ...obviously the offroad roads are not included but they were found along thise route: http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Ro...,11,12,13&z=11

Total mileage i done so far on my new x-road 250 is 514km.

First around some roads in-between ricefields

    Then some muddy forest road

In another forest but no road really....i couldn't even use the sidestand the soil was so soft - eventually near the tree the soil was firm enough to use the stand

    In a ricefield-road again

    the final pitstop

    mileage:

got into rain on the last few km's as well - looks very dirty now

    after some washing:

hope you enjoy & happy trails,

Well done Reinhard, its nice to see you out putting the kms on the bike and also not afraid to get your shiny new bike dirty doing some dirt trails

Thanks colin , i quite enjoyed doing some of the dirty roads yesterday ...although i am newbie on dirtroads it has something that i find interesting about ...when i was in the forest mudroad i went trough some of those water filled trackholes...can't really see how deep they are...by one water filled trackhole i was a bit surprised being deeper then anticipated...but i got through it . Also something i need to get used to , i shouldn't sit when doing the offroad but rather stand...oh well its a learning curve i enjoy

    cheers, mbox

    Well done mbox!
As you say, maybe dual-purpose tyres would be useful.
How did the shocks on the trails you rode?

yep perhaps dual purpose tire in future maybe something like the pirelli scorpion MT 90 A/T
I find the suspension so far.... on road use , the shocks absorb pretty ok , but they don't absorb all of the bumps - i think it is pretty firm .
I have not much to compare with though ...i did test the d-tracker a few years ago and i think it was softer- i think more absorbing

Offroad the shocks did very well , but it was only light offroad ...and the only thing i can compare with was certain naked bikes and the Honda Baja ...sure it is much better on light offroad than a naked roadbike but the baja is also much better in its suspension being a real offroader.

I'd say it's suspension is there where it should be and the lesser absorbing on the x-road is made up with the comfy seat and seating-position.
