Angry Getting logged out while doing a longer post

Something for the Webmaster to solve/answer.
Sometimes when I'm doing a longer post I need to log in anew while clicking 'post/save changes', meaning that one out of two of this occasions I loose all that I wrote until then and can start again.
This is not really making me happy for posting longer ones...........
Did not see that I lost connection, so what's the reason ??

I've suffered the same problem Franz- it seems the forum "times out" and it can certainly be frustrating to work on a trip report or long post only to loose it... I actually don't compose trip reports on GT Rider anymore because of this problem. Now I compose them on some other forum and then copy the completed post to GT Rider. Not a perfect solution, but gets the job done

    Hi Franz

The time-setting on the forum is set to not time users out. Thats as free and easy as we can make it.

Some sites do impose an auto-logout - we did so previously - its usually done to minimise the possibuility of leaving your account open on a public computer for anyone else to access.

Any interruption you suffer is could be caused by a pause in your internet connection, which trips a logout... Other than that, I'm at a loss as to why it would occur...

To prevent loss of effort, the way many people choose to process a longer post is to write it in Wordpad or MS Word first, and then copy and paste it into the forum post and set up the images.

    Cheers
    Ben

Hi Tony, good to know I'm not the only one to get pissed sometimes.....5555

Hi Ben, will do what Tony does and also you suggest, any big report goes first into Word and then copy/paste it is.

It was happening to me an awful lot so now I always type it to a Hotmail draft then copy it across

Usually if you check the Remember Me box when you log in it shouldn`t time you out.

Hi Colin, good to know that also our 'biggest poster' got the same problems, so another reason for Ben to look if he maybe can find some glitch.
Hi Cruising, did never try that but will do so for next big post, many thanks for the hint ! Rgds, Franz

I also get logged out after a few minutes while doing longer posts, so I'm sure it is on some sort of auto-logout, as my very expensive internet connection does not drop out.
I also wonder about the security risks involved when clicking on that "remember me". Especially since my Yahoo online address book was hacked into.

Here we go again, the thing logged me out again in just a couple of minutes, when I hit post reply...............

Here we go again, was just writing a long trip report about Nan when I got logged out again although I clicked 'remember me'. My anger is now so much that I won't do this report again but keep it for myself. FR

Thanks Colin, did as you and others recommended and made a wordfile first. Still I think Admin should look into that matter and try to get this glitch solved. Rgds, FR
