Laos Trip December 2nd to 11th

    Hi Guys,

We are all getting pretty excited about our pending Laos trip.
Starting from Loei this Friday... Last weekend we road the bike from Nong Khai to Loei.

Day 1:- Loei to Pak Lai / Blue and red line
Day 2:- Pak Lai to Sayabouri via the National Protected area / Light blue
Day 3:- Sayabouri >> HongSa << Luang Prabang / Orange line
Day 4:- Ride the trails to the south of Luang Prabang / Trails to be decided
Day 5:- Luang Prabang to Viang Thong (ride the trails to the Vietnam border and hot spring on the way back) / green line
Day 6:- Viang Thong to Pathet Lao Cave area / Purple & Red line
Day 7:- Pathet Lao Cave to Phonsavan / Red line
Day 8:- Ride the trails around Phonsavan - Plain of Jars that have not been before / Trails to be decided
Day 9:- Phonsavan to Muang Huong / Light green line
Day 10:- Muang Hong to Vientiane (Head for the Friendship bridge / Nong Khai and the night train to Bangkok) / Dark Blue line

If there are any other GT-Riders out there at this time.. Hope we can meet up for a beer along the way..

    Cheers
    Brian

Hi Brian - I live in Luang Prabang - if you pm me before you arrive we can have a beer and chat. I did the Hongsa-LP bit a couple of weeks ago - the rainy season has made the first part 'interesting' - you will have to slow down on some bits - there is a bit of rain here at the moment - if it rains in the hills there be careful as some of the track is clay and gets very slippy when wet. Not sure if you have done that bit before but if you are arriving from Sayabury you don’t need to go into Hongsa for the LP road - you need to turn off right a few kilometres short - good luck and keep us posted.

    Hi Rreznik,
Can't see an option to PM you when I click on your name.
Not sure of the time it will take from Sayabouri to LP via HongSa.. We plan to leave early and hope to be in LP by mid afternoon with some drinks at the wine bar and beers by the Mekong shortly after.

Can you PM me your mobile number and I will give you a call.

    Cheers
    Brian

I've followed your trip reports for some time; always well planned & rewarding to riders & readers alike. this looks like being yet another 'ripper'.
Do the audio tour in Vieng Xay - sensational & most informative.

Does this forum have PM's ? - if so maybe I cant pm because I have less than 5 posts? - my Laos number is 55172764 - the road from Saya to Hongsa is a good tarmac one and I think is around 80Km's before the turn off to LP - will take around 1.5 hrs depending on your speed - from there its all dirt road and I would suggest around 3 - 3.5 hours for that stretch - good luck.
