Hanoi to Phnom Penh

Hi there,
Me and a mate from Australia are planning to make our way from Hanoi to Phnom Penh in Februaury 2012. We plan to buy bikes in Hanoi and make it to Phnom Penh in 21 days. First question, do you think this is realistic? Will we spend to much time on the saddle to enjoy ourselves?
Anyway, we were planning to travel down the Vietnamese coast but after a bit of research I have become more interested in Laos. If we were to buy bikes in Hanoi what route do you recommend we take down Laos into Cambodia?
Also, what type of bike do you recomend ?

Ha Noi - Nghe An - Hue - Da Nang - Quang Nam - Kon Tum - Bo Y\Phou Keua border - Attapu - Paske - Voeung Kham\Strung Treng border - Phone Penh.

From Lao into Cambodia just only route at Voeung Kham\Strung Treng border.

How much you intend to spend for bike?

The cheapest possible that would make the journey comfortably. Prepared to spend up to $800. Is that realiastic?
