just a reminder for those in the north, that the final and deciding round of thailand supercross chapionship will be held in chiang rai, practice; friday 16/11 and racing; 17/11 at night, probably starting around 4pm until 10pm.(guess)
should be all out action with junior and senoir chapionships to be decided on the night, with the competition for thai sx chapionship tied on equal points going into this last round.

Cheers for the reminder Mark. Seems like there will be a contingent going up from CNX although mode of transport has yet to be fixed. Will see you there!

Cheers,

Pikey.

Chaps,

Because we are such a bunch of unorganised *****, what we decided earlier tonight at Ian's (excellent) birthday party was just to meet at the X Centre (Mae Rim/Mae Sa valley road) at 12:00 midday on saturday, wait 1/2 hour til 12:30 to see who turns up and then go. There will be my truck (3 pax), TJ's Honda Jazz (4 pax) and maybe Ian's X-Centre bus. It all depends on who's there at the time as to what vehicles we take up. Parking at X-Centre overnight is available with security down to you (although Ian does pay a bloke in a uniformto sleep there overnight! [Wink]).

Yeah, yeah, why don't you ride e.t.c but some of us don't have suitable bikes on the road right now and have people from out of town to considcer too (Daewoo), so 2 or 4 wheels, whatever, get up there for the SuperCross and have a good night! Loose plan is to leave X-Centre by 12:30/12:45, arrive Chiang Rai about 15:30 and suss accommodation, out to the track for the races (bring a warm coat/jumper as it could be cool) then back to town and on the p*ss.

Like Ian says - "Be there if you dare!"

Cheers,

Pikey.

I'll be riding up on the AT on Friday, returning Sunday. Probably leave from the Kafe late morning / midday. Looking for elephant camps to GPS, plus enjoy the big night Saturday night.

Another change of plans, folks. Because Ian, (the birthday boy), will now be riding his Tiger up to Chiang Rai, no one will be meeting at X-Centre, and we are all making our own way up there.

The location of moto-x site as follows, just south of Chiang Rai, take the 1020, go along for approx. 4kms, you will see quarry on left, that's the site. Should be easy to see as there will be heaps of bikes/ pick ups advertising boards etc.

approx gps. 099.51.18.6 19.51.8.7

If anybody was wondering whether it was worth battling up the 118 to see the racing - stop and just come.
If the practice session is anything to go by then there cannot be a better spectator sport to be seen in Thailand today.

Mister Mark Rossi!

Even though it was only a practice session the racing was fast & furious.

Robbo's unique cornering style

In fact it was rare to see him on the ground

The under 16 is going down to the wire.
This is one of the contenders to the title, racing with a broken collar bone!

Others had unique lighting

Team Rossi had its own supporters

There was talk of GTR starting a category of Pillion In Training - so making PIT-stop could have a unique meaning.
But Pillion Under Training or PUT - was rejected as "putting around", could perhaps be misunderstood.

Anyway their support was welcome from all those on the track.

The racing was always exciting

Mercifully the injuries turned out to be not too serious

Finally back to the Flying Kiwi, Robbo, back in the AIR!

So do come along - thrills & spills and many new friends to meet!

thanks to all the gt-riders for the support at the chiang rai sx event, you definately made my weekend more enjoyable, although topping off a bottle of whisky with the old bull (F.L.) on friday night is not the best pre-race conditioning.
a special thanks to rhodie for the fantastic pictures and confidence inspiring support, for me and james.
i hope all enjoyed.

Nice photos. I wish I had seen the racing and Mark, I thought that "octane booster" went into the bike and not the rider?
