This look like a darn good peice of equipment to me that fits my needs. So far Yamaha won't bring it in. But I can get one.

At first I thought this is the V4 they built for some time, but it's a V2. And it's not just another version of the (good) old Virago engine, but a newer one with 60* instead of 75. With a bore/stroke of 100/83mm this engine has potential, it could revv easily to 7000rpm with a few improvements. Seems like a departure from the super-longstroke of the pushrod Drag Star 1600.

This has a drive belt as does the Vulcan 900 anyone got experience with these ? You ride here yuo will end up on dirt roads and gravel no way around it.

That is about the only thing making me nervous about it.

My Harley has belt drive and no problems at all here in the UK, before I bought my Bm in Thailand I had a meeting with Irwin Ruser the then head of Bms motorcycle department in Thailand. He asked me where I was going to ride and when I told him up in the mountains and not in the cities he told me to avoid the belt drive 650 road bike as I would probably break a few belts

Hmm!!! I dont see how yuo can avoid dirt and gravel riding the Issan roads. That could be a real problem. Freeway riding in the states I doubt there would be any problem either.

Hi Ray,

Maybe you know this already, but... If no, try this:

http://www.tpmotorcycle.com/products/listproduct.asp

There are second hand bikes, but... maybe...

Or this:

http://classifieds.thaivisa.com/automot ... 21952.html

Brand new or second hand imports. I asked for a Honda Transalp brand new, but they can't get one...

Regards,
Gobs

PS: I'm not involved with these dealers. Just a thought...
