Exporting A Used Bike Into Laos?

With all the border crossing hickups nowadays, I'm thinking to get my old Phantom over into Laos, so I would have a bike over there without the hassle of the constant paperwork. I can see new scooters crossing almost daily the border at Chiang Saen, so there should be a way. Wife has somehow relatives in Bokeo province, so they could actually use it, I do not use it anymore, and since the Rebel came out, the resale value dropped considerable anyways. This would be not a temporary export, the goal is that the bike remains in Laos, and registered in Laos. Anyone an idea how to do that?

Just buy a bike in Laos and give the middle finger to the thai smile friendship bridges. . That's what I did. It is now illegal to import secondhand vehicles permanently. Another benefit is no 100,000 kip a day fine on Laos side and 1000 baht a day fine on Thai side - I think we c
can guess where these smiles are coming from 555
