About a year ago was on a ride that took me on highway 12 from Tak to Mae Sot. The construction at that time, along with a lot of traffic including big trucks, made this a very unpleasant ride.

Anyone been on this road recently? Is the construction finished? If not finished what state is it in?

I rode this in Feb this year. There was some roadworks still ongoing and would estimate +80% complete from memory, but everyone still had a smile at the end of this section. Overall was great condition and one of my fav rides, unfortunately was not on a Superbike

Another opinion is HWY 1175. It’s a fair bit longer I know, but if you’re not in a hurry it’s a great ride with very little traffic.

Moto-Rex - Great trip report. In this case a bit of a hurry but 1175 is on my list.

My bikes are going to be based in Mae Sot for a few months so that's a loop I want to try, maybe down 1175 and turn north at the bottom of the hill instead of towards Tak, then north-west and over to Mae Sariang and back to Mae Sot. but that's another day...

Thanks again
