Not so long ago I hunted online for remote charging options for my laptop. I do not want to rely on my USB motorbike charger to power directly, (plus I had concerns about voltage, etc.).

It was suggested that I try out the RavPower powerbank, which has a conventunal port/socket and is powerful enough to charge a laptop.

Full specs of this specific model is here: https://www.ravpower.com/p/ravpower-ac-outlet-20100mah-powe…

The RavPower powerbank can be purchased online, but is currently not available in Thailand I think.

The laptop I am using for remote use is the very light and portable Lenovo Miix 520-12IKB, which has proven to be powerful enough for soft video editing and photoshop etc. It also has a detachable keyboard, so can be used in tablet mode. In terms of value for money and specs, it beats the Surface Pro. So a good solution if you need a small and lightweight, but fairly powerful laptop option.

Ok, hope that was helpful if, like me, you were struggling with ideas of what is out there. Very happy with the RavPower, but keep in mind a laptop battery requires a lot of juice, so the powerbank will charge the battery for around one full cycle (depending on laptop battery size), then will need to be recharged.

Additionally, I am unsure if it will power ALL laptops, but I imagine so.

Hope this info helps if you are looking for something like this. :)

Good point. Does take a while, but didnt time it. I will drain the battery and time it.
I also need to do a test run on my motorbike port for charging it up as not sure will actually work yet...
Currently waiting on some new motorbike usb etc ports to arrive that I ordered online, as my current one is in bad shape.

..ok, so some bad news about this device is that I cannot directly charge from usb (which was my plan to do whilst riding, via my usb port on the bike)
HOWEVER, I have seen some gadgets on aliexpress.com and wonder if anyone could possibly give some feedback on these devices.
Do you think any of them could work to charge my powerbank or would it potentially suck the life out of my battery (even if only charging whilst engine running)? Thanks for any feedback.
(Also, currently charging the flat powerbank via mains as I write this and will update later on how long it took to charge)

Here are the gadgets I could potentially add for charging on the go..
(not these exact ones per say, more just a general idea..) could it work?

Number 1

Number 2

Number 3 ( I think this one will just fry personally, as only meant for phone charging)

Anyway, thoughts on this will be most appreciated. Thanks.

Update on the charging time.
Idiot me forgot to keep a proper eye out.
Anyway, it for sure takes between 3 and 4 hours for a full charge.
The powerbank has blue LED lights to show the power level.
After an hour was up it was one bar up (out of 4 bars).
So i would say about 4 hours but possibly under.

As for powering my laptop (or at least my make of laptop), it provides one full charge whilst actively on (from flat battery on the laptop), before beginning to die. Laptops take a lot of juice of course.. so for other devices it would likely last longer.

I did try plugging in other things just to see, such as portable hair irons (haha) and hair dryer, but no success on those...which I expected anyway, but was worth a shot.
