Khao Yai is easily one of my top 10 destinations in Thailand. Gateway to Isan region, the National Park itself is Unesco World Heritage Site. The magnificent Route 3077, abundance of wild life, waterfalls and rain forests makes this place very special. I have been here many times but today making slight detour just to ride thru the area again. This was 4th time within 12 months....

Wat Pho Bang Khla - Giant bats temple

Had to see with my own eyes, otherwise wouldn't believe the story. This temple is famous for flying foxes, the world’s largest species of bats with wingspan of up to 1 meter. There are literally thousands of them hanging on the trees. They’ve been observed flying to Thai-Cambodian border side to feed – supposedly never eat fruit grown by Bang Khla people.

Chonburi, The Sanctuary of the Truth Temple. Actually right at the edge of Sin City of Pattaya.

My jaw dropped upon seeing this extraordinary temple. The building has been under construction now for more than 20 years and it might take another 15 years before gets finished. Temple is completely made out of wood, and all the delicate carvings are done by hand. The huge building is more than 100 meters high. The architectural style is inspired by Buddhist and Hindu beliefs. Each of the four corners has a tower with figures from Thai, Cambodian, Indian and Chinese beliefs and legends. The Sanctuary of Truth is created by Thai millionaire Khun Lek Viriyaphant, who was very interested in preserving Thai culture and history.
