For the first time in four years of riding in Northern Thailand, I got stopped at a checkpoint north of Mae Rim. It was a bit comic at first as the cop asked me if I had a "driving lesson." I said, yeah, I've had them. Then he asked me again for a driving lesson and I thought he wanted to give me one right there. Er.... okay..... You can..... Finally realized he meant driving "license" so out comes my Thai car and motorcycle licenses. Then he taps on my bike registration label and asks to see the actual book. (At this point he realizes I understand a bit of Thai so he cut the English!) I didn't have any further registration book, not even a copy but he let me go after a few minutes of chit chat. Do most of you out there carry the actual registration book or a copy?
