G'day people....I am after info on Chiang Khan Border crossing and accomodation. The Sons of Arthritis planned ride for March 2016, West to East of Nth Thailand.

Can anyone provide me with some decent to reasonable riverside guesthouses to stay maybe 2 days in Chiang Khan. Will be riding in from Nan as group of 4 riders. Also wanting to cross into Laos here, is it possible. What are the border fees and paperwork needed to take motorbikes over. Visa on arrival??

Thanks in advance.

Chiang Khan is not an international border crossing. Either head east to Nongkhai or west to Ban Tha Li / Nakraseng (north-west of Loei)

Agreed there is no international border crossing at Chiang Khan.

Tha Li is the nearest, then Nong Khai.

I see that Tha Li has the border crossing and now this press release on tourism in the zone, could expand this crossing to the next friendship bridge. Just need to cut back on some red tape.
