Road east from Xiangdao to Xiang Kok?

Was riding up north from Poung to Xiangdao some moons ago, and headed on to the newish dirt road east riding along the Mekong. Very pretty jungle.

All went well for several 10kms, but then hit an old bridge and the track just stopped and was impassible.

Was aiming to get to Xiang Kok this way.

What did I miss and is there a route that continues to Xiang Kok?

I did Xieng Dao to Xieng Kok in february 2011. the part from the old bridge on eastwards to xieng kok was very nice. some muddy parts, but mostly quite easy. and very beautiful!!
