Yes, you have to have some way to turn off your headlight or you will be stopped at every police checkpoint. I've made the trip many times and I had an on/off switch for my Honda but I just bought a Kawasaki for my touring bike and I'm just putting duct tape over the headlight. It works just as well and it is much easier if you don't plan on riding at night when you are over there. I just covered my lower headlight so I can still turn on high if I need them in Cambodia.
