Uttaradit to Nan via the Sirikit Dam.

Motorcycle. The magnificently appointed white KLX.
Ive ridden this road/ ferry a couple of times, and its a great alternative to the main hwy, as the traffic is minimal, the scenery is great, and you get to float across the Sirikit Dam on a ferry.
Its all tar except for about 200 metres of dirt that takes you to the ferry on the south side of the Dam. So you’ll be ok one any bike. So when the rain stops, I recommend you go take a look.
I rode this in December 2012,…yeh, a bit late with the write up.
The night before in Uttaradit, which is another great little Thai town. I had chicken with cashew nuts and beer, in what I reckon is the best restaurant in Thailand.
The morning pick me up was less exciting,.. but the toasted sandwiches from 7-11, along with Amazon coffee are pretty damn good.
A big marker just outside Uttaradit, which helped me work out where I was.
I had know idea what the green things I brought were……..but I brought them.
Lots of these trucks in this area.
The road (hwy 1047) is in very good condition.
Except for this section.
The Sirikit dam with the ferry on its way.
Its amazing how this little canoe pulls all that weight.
Off we go,....I was the only passenger.
Very scenic, and relaxing.
Water front living.
The crossing takes about 15 minutes.
Land ahoy.
Looking back to the dam and ferry. You can get food and drinks at the town.
After the voyage, its back on the tarmac to Nan.
Great road, with some big hills, very little traffic, quant little towns, and great scenery.
Not a bad way to spend a day.
Short video of the crossing.
