I never saw these photos of my then wedding in 1999 ( the marriage didn't last very long) until a few months ago - it is 2021 & I am now very happily married to someone else. They only confirmed what I have always thought - that my long time friend David is a truly gifted photographer ! Keep on keeping on, on two wheels David !

Cheers Peter. They were good times - golden days, hanging out in Chiang Dao @ Abu's bar beer.

With the "famous" Dr Phillip? on the right.

A super cool guy. Retired "hotelier" / master chef with properties all around the world.
Was always travelling with a case of wine in his jeep. A wonderful character & loadsa fun.
Built a teak mansion at Pong or Chiang Muan - I forget exactly where.
Hadn't seen him since 97 & bumped into him again at Chiang Roy pub in Chiang Khong late last year; & since lost contact again.

The two farang guys on left, the Uvex distributors from Germany who came on a short tour round the GT with me & lucked out at the Lisu wedding. A very special event & unique ocassion.

The ex-hotelier is Dr Olivier P. (I'll keep his surname confidential). His grand-father built a luxury hotel in Switzerland and it was one of the highest, in terms of altitude above sea-level, in the world. Apparently, Adolf Hitler once stayed there. Olivier sold the hotel to retire early and live in Thailand with his Thai wife, who he met at university in Geneva. Last time I ran into him he, just like me, had developed throat cancer and he was having radio-therapy in BKK. As in my case, it must have been successful, or you would not have run into him in Chiang Kong. I stayed at his 'palace' in Amphur Pong in 1998 and have old (non-digital) photos of it. As David says, a truly lovely bloke and I'm glad that he is still alive and well. His home is too spectacular for words to do it justice. The staircase alone is solid teak and a good three metres wide. The house is filled with life-size carved teak animals, including a giraffe.

Great thanks for that update. Dr Olivier it was.
It was looking for his place in Pong once, but could not identify it. Not that I really knew which one it was, but I did think it may have been this one.

but no luck - nobody around to ascertain if that was his place.
Sadly when we last met, he did not use any social media, or chat apps.
Phone only & I've since lost his contact details.
