Festivals In The Top North For Ok Phansa. October 2012.

There was a master plan to hit southern Laos for Boun Ok Phansa to hopefully pick on the boat racing, Loy Krathong plus maybe the Mekong Naga Fireballs, but it somehow never eventuated. The main problem being the need for a "non-stop" 2 day ride from Cnx - Pakxe / Champasak to be there in time...

Promotion for the event.

I arrived behind schedule & just caught prepartions for the show.

The registration ladies

& lung was the only farang registering, much to the delight of the Tai Lue damsels.

A large dining are was set up for the show.

There were free drinks & icecream for the kids.

A market is set up outside in the street,.

There are lots of stunning Tai Lue weaving products for sale.

The Khamu guys also have a stall with basketware.

Some traditional rice cakes for eating.

Ready for action, fully armed with phones!

Some singing, music & a few dances get the evening show going.

Official speeches & grand opening, with a budgetary promise of a significant increase in 2024.

The event has not been held in Had Bai fo several years, due to covid & is welcomed back by everyone. Let the good times roll.

There is a huge crowd for the night, eating out & celebrating Tai Lue culture.

The sound & light system was excellent.
