A bit of an unusual ride you might say, but working on a Nan map, I realised I was missing a GPS track for 1092, so why not go fora ride for the day & pick it up again. You get to ride 2 great biking roads, R1092 & R1179, two "minor" roads, often overlooked, but believe me they are great rides on deserted roads.

1148 has some great trees around Ban Hae.

The funky aircon Cafe Mellow is my fave pit stop in Pong city.

The owner speaks good English, having studied in New Zealand for several years.

The coffee is great & there are plenty of simple dishes for a quick bite to eat.
The old GTR fellah goes for the tuna salad & is impressed every time.

It's a magic ascending ride from Pong

& perhaps a more interesting ride, that is a bit technical in places, with some lovely decreasing radius corners.

.

My departure time from Chiang Khong was 12.45 PM
Arrival in Pong was 4.30 om = I stpped to take multiple photos.
I ended up in Chiang Kham for the night @ 6PM.

The Tai Lue Guesthouse is my fave place of stay in Chiang Kham, & what a gem it is.
