Thai Vs European Registered Motorbike Abroad?

Does anyone know if there is any difference in travelling around the world with a Thai registered motorbike compared to lets say an EU registered motorbike ?

I would not return the bike to Thailand, so I would not care about an extended permit for taking the bike outside Thailand longer than 30 days. My main question would be if there is any difference in obtaining carnet's and entry documents for various countries depending on where the bike is originally registered (Thai vs EU) ?

First of all - if you need a Carnet for your bike its a bit more tricky to get that for a thai plated vehicle versus a european/american/aussie plated vehicle - from what I have heard at least. There is a automobil associaton in Malaysia that supposedly issues Carnets for thai plated vehicles but I have read theyre not easy to get in touch with.

It would be interesting how they would write thai scripture on temporary vehicle import papers around the world and ditto on insurance documents...
But maybe the «Green book» can be translated to english before you take off?

Theres a thai guy riding around the world for the moment on a thai plated bike so it should be possible for anyone I guess...

Good luck mate. They are notoriously difficult to get in touch with due to severe staff cut backs. Additionally, they have not had stocks of books for a very long time though rumour has it that early 2019 will see more books arriving. You can also expect the refund of your deposit to take a significant amount of time.
