Uttaradit 31 July 2019.
Tropical storm Wipha was inbound and the weather forecast look totally fearsome.
After sorting out new Givi Box keys I set off from Chiang Mai around 10.45AM
As luck would have it I caught up to the Ambassador's group of riders at the PTT near Den Chai.
A lengthy coffee stop followed by a plan to stop at the Khao Plung Sala View Point.
Google Maps
Whenever using R11, south from Den Chai I always stop at the sala viewpoint restaurant to pay my respects to the shop keeper who was the first on the scene, at my orange crush bus accident 25 years ago.
I almost lost my leg in the little tangle with 100 stitches in my left leg, between the knee & groin. A huge amount of blood was lost & the people at the accident never thought I would survive, but I did & kept on riding = it's great to be alive.
Onto to Uttaradit & Kay's GPs map seemed to have some difficulty in finding the hotel. However all's well that ends well and we all arrived in Uttaradit DRY, much to our surprise.
The Kiwi Cruiser ex Mae Sarieng was on hand to great the slower riders from Chiang Mai.
The dinner venue recommendation -
The Living Room - was a beauty & within walking distance of the Tonsom Hotel.
A magic evening ensued with the restaurant to ourselves.
Food / service / music were all good
The singer finished work & the party ended so everyone left.
One group turning left & one group turning right, but the group following the singer never reached their desired destination, getting side tracked on the way.
And well the other group got in even later, surveying several Uttaradit night spots = we shall return.
Departure day from Uttaradit, the Kiwi Cruiser headed off at first light back to Mae Sarieng.
Richard Na Ched Yot, headed south & the rest of the group headed North. Heineken To Nan & the balance to Chiang Mai in 2 groups again.
Overall a super time & incredibly no riding in the rain.
I did however seem to pick up a nasty head cold back in Chiang Khong which has layed me low for a few days.
