The monthly GTR Upcountry dinners started in 2010 & there have been 25 of them since.

The first one in Mae Chaem had only 2 guys turn up, & then a break of several years, but they have steadily improved since & nowadays most of them have been a rip roaring success.

The idea being to pick a small town or amphur that most riders wouldn’t spend a night in, but with a group of guys you can have a lot of fun; and if they haven’t had a group of farang staying there it is often a magic rewarding night.

After 25 dinners now, it is getting harder for find a small town that works.
Recently I surveyed both Thoen & Ngao, looking for suitable establishments – hotels / restaurants – and came away empty handed.
So is time to start revisiting some destinations we have already been to.
The plan for 2021 then is to alternate the dinners between an old place & a new destination.

So for the January 2021 dinner lets take a vote & select a repeat destination.

The previous GTR dinners
1. Mae Chaem. 23 October 2010
2. Golden Triangle. 20 November 2010.
3. Tha Ton. 30 May 2018.
4. Lampang. 27 June 2018.
5. Pua. 25 July 2018.
6. Mae Chan. 29 August 2018.
7. Phrae. 26 September 2018.
8. Mae Chaem. 31 October 2018.
9. Tak. 28 November 2018
10. Chiang Khong. 30 January 2019.
11. Piang Luang. 27 February 2019.
12. Thoed Thai. 24 April 2019.
13. Na Noi. 29 May 2019.
14. Chiang Saen. 26 June 2019.
15. Uttaradit. 31 July 2019.

Just to be clear. I've just altered the wording slightly for the poll. We're voting for a dinner venue in January.

"So for the January 2021 dinner lets take a vote & select a repeat destination."

There is an option to change your vote, if this change affects your decision at at all.

Sorry, I'm a newbie to these get togethers, so don't have either a preference or any experience.:mask:

Ok I have had a look as I have never been to 95% of the choices.

Pua works for me as I could use the 1148, which was recently recommended to me , but it is a fair way for those from CM.
2nd Tha Ton, but the rural roads look a bit rough for a sportbike and riders from CR would need to be creative to add some distance.

Whether the resort has a pool seems a bit moot for this time of year.:cold_sweat:

NB. Chiang Dao looks to have an abundance of places and is not on the list? Tak is a red zone:mask:

I'd like to join if possible but when would it be? I have a few days off so I might be able to make it up north actually before having to leave for work again at the end of the month.

Duh! When I first clicked on the thread it took me to the first post. I was/am not clever enough to scroll up. I wondered how it could be a poll with no choices.
