Degue epedemic.

I am now sick with Dengue 4 days in hospital so far , my doctor says its rampant in Pattaya this year so far the district has had over 6000 hosptal cases and 38 deaths , strange no mention in any of the responsible media ,perhaps they dont want to scare away Tourists .

My Daughters had it so has my wife and many kids from Kats school.

I had it 4 years ago after a trip to Phuket, my gf got really sick, she was unconsious at times during her 5 days at hospital. For me, i think it was as close to being a goner as i've ever been. Had very high fever, dont really remember all of it.
Health dept paid us a visit at our house in BKK, they got info from the hospital that we had dengue. I had to explain to them that we didnt get it from the pots/mosquitoes in BKK, but down in Phuket.

easier said than done= be aware!
As I said I had it 3 weeks ago, will be immune for 6 mos against the same virus type. But how to beware, still want to be in Thailand.
Only real repellent is DEET. But to smear my whole body every single day with poison having unknown long term effects that cannot be the answer

there are so many Mosquitos this year the spraying seems inefectual .I reckon the only way to keep them off is to cover myself in Gasohol and light it up.

Would be interested to compare hospital cost.
Phuket Bkk Hospital
I paid for my 7 days over 50.000 b- Room was 2300. for the doctor to stop by 1500 per diem.

My (then) loving and caring (ex) and her family didnt take me to any hospital during this ordeal, so i cant really compare costs... As for her, Lufthansa that she worked for paid her, dont think it was that much, around 20k i believe at Piyavate Hospital in bkk.

4 days /nights in Memorial 23,000 baht for me ..............2 days in Pattaya Bangkok for my daughter 17,000 baht.
