Landmark Viet Nam-Laos bus route begins operations
(06-07-2006) BINH DINH.
The Binh Dinh Bus Station and the Binh Dinh Trade and Transportation Joint Stock Companies inaugurated the first international bus route linking central Binh Dinh Province to Champassak Province in southern Laos yesterday.
The 600km bus route will take 12 hours to cross the central highlands province of Gia Lai and Kon Tum, Bo Y border gate, and the Lao provinces of Attapu, Sekong and Champassak.
Buses will depart from Quy Nhon City in Binh Dinh Province every Monday and Thursday and from Pakse in Champassak Province every Wednesday and Saturday.
The bus route is expected to serve both the Lao and Vietnamese international tourists and to boost economic co-operation between Binh Dinh province and southern Lao provinces.

Comment: I wonder if this means that this border crossing will soon become fully international for westerners?
