Luang Prabang World Heritage Town prepares for 20th anniversary

(KPL) Laos is preparing to celebrate the 20[sup]th[/sup] anniversary of Luang Prabang World Heritage Town which will fall on 5-9 December 2015 in Luang Prabang Province.
“In preparation for the celebration, we have appointed an organizing committee and allocated specific jobs to relevant sectors to mobilize local people in the municipality of Luang Prabang to get involved,” said Vice Governor of Luang Prabang Province, Mr Saysamone Khomthavong.
This year’s celebration will feature a variety of activities such as an international conference on the protection, conservation and development of the Heritage town of Luang Prabang, photo exhibitions, a drawing competition for children, a product exhibition fair, a food fair, an art performance and a sports competition.
In addition, there will be a special procession of large elephants that will walk through the town of Luang Prabang.
The Deputy Prime Minister has urged each sector to focus on their responsibilities to further advertiseLuang Prabang both regionally and internationally.
A press conference for the celebration was held on 3 July in Luang Prabang Province and was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Sports, Mr Khamphan Viphavanhand relevant officials.
