Hi everyone,

Just saw on Facebook a livestream of Honda announcing the CRF300L (think it was from yesterday). Any thoughts about it?

I can't find any specs about horsepower but the compression is 10.7:1 and the stroke 76x63.

The price for the CRF300L is about 146K and the Rally about 172K from what I gathered from the livestream.

(sorry I'm posting so infrequently, but I just returned to Thailand after 2 lovely weeks in quarantine. Happy to be back here though and ready to go out riding again).

Power is up from 24,5 to 31, tourque up from 22 to 26,2, weight down from 144 to 138 kilos on the L model. Rally gets bigger gas tank from 10,1 to 12,8 liters. Slipper clutch, gear indicator etc etc etc.

All in all - fantastic upgrades! Wished they could do something with the waaay too soft rear suspension - but I guess we cant have it all...

Oh that's a great overview. I couldn't find it. Was this on the Honda site? Sounds like a wonderful set of upgrades. I guess you can always swap the rare suspension with something a bit firmer?

So the stroke is still the same but the bore is bigger. I guess that makes sense but it doesn't really change much in the design of the engine I figure. I wonder if the seat is any less horrible than before.

12k bath for the 348ccm rod/crank upgrade (made by Honda), and about 10 k for a 12l tank. (360km range)
They last forever so an upgrade could be an alternative to buing a new one.
Mine got 110k km and still good. ;)

Do you have that 348 cc kit on your bike?

I don't know hardly anyone who went the Bigbore way without problems? I think My standard 250 engine fitted with the EJK fuel programmer, full FMF Powercore and Mega Bomb Exhaust system plus the intake is just as fast and more reliable? Everything sounds Great on the New 300L . Will wait till I see and ride one first to see if it is worth a change?

Is that the rod/crank from the CB300 ? 12k includes the balancer also ? Thanks

Sorry. Mistake. It is 308 ccm with the rod/cranck replacement. Made by Honda Thailand. Put it in at 80k and now 30k km without a problem. Will put it on a dyna bench once the Covid is over and install a EJK for each configuration. 17" rear wheel. 18" and 41 sprocket and my favourite 18" 48 sprocket.
I agree with Ian about the big block.

I just took a ride on the new CRF300L on Friday. I am not so tech-savvy really, but for sure it has more grunt than the CRF250 and my Dtracker250.

I did notice it got REAL hot, but that might just be the circumstances..not sure. I was out and about for 10 hours on it, on a hot day, but still, the heat it was giving off was surprising.

I got it from C&P Big Bike Rentals in Chiang Mai, so it's available if you are in CM and want to try before buying.

Would be interested to hear other peoples experiences on it, especially on how hot it gets.

I would like to see a 400 or 450 come out so I can compare too. If I didn't already have my 250 I would go for the 300 but needs some modifications to suit my riding needs better. It's a very off-road orientated dual sport. I would prefer to tailor it more to be more road than off-road.

I made a video on it, if interested, but meh..im not that good at review videos in truth. It's not like you will learn anything new from this video, but I wanted to try to make one anyway.
