  1. the best road in thailand on a supermotard DRZ400, here i chase aussie ace happyfeet through the sublime corners....

  2. Luke
  I actually felt sick - motion sickness - watching it.
:D :D Route 1148 really is tops eh?
 Might be time for a GT Rider T-shirt for R1148 & Nan, maybe?
  3. David, yes there really is no better road around. i had to cut that video down from over 40 mins of footage, so the curves just go on and on.

p.s t-shirt is already at the printers to commemorate this road!!

    orders through me or happyfeet.
    200baht for the cotton version
500baht for the silk version.( personally recommended ).
  4. Luke
    The vid's a belter mate;
as are the other two.
Cracking stuff - already passed on to R.
Lookinf for more of the same.
  5. Awesome!
Was just up there a few weeks ago and indeed, the 1148 is hard to beat!
BTW, what kind of camera are you using? I need a new camera and would be grateful for any recommendations.
    Ride On!
  6. Luke, what a stunning VDO you did on that one !! Mark seems to like more the dirt tracks as you are cornering more quick   than him...5555555. Will go there maybe in 2 weeks again, Tony you made up your mind already  ??? Cheers, Franz
  7. Can't go wrong with the 1148 Franz!
Still waiting to see what the other SSR Hooligans want to do- I wouldn't mind exploring some places I've not yet been, such as Mae Salong, but if they want to go to Nan that would be great as well.
All good! Bought a cheap little video camera at Pantip yesterday but not yet had a chance to try it out. I think you'll be amazed to see how far you get that big FJR over in the corners- wicked fun to watch!
    See you soon!
  8. Yes, I do like this. Keep going volks. Chasing each other.
  9. For the video recording, what cameras and equipment do you guys use. Do you use a specific video device or are there combination of 'point and shoot' style with video collection which would work.

  10. tony,

the camera is the american GoPro series. it comes with all the appropriate mounts for helmet, tank, or whatever you want to stick it on too.
i bought mine for 9,500baht here in chiang mai, bangkok would probably be cheaper.

  11. Awesome mate. Just home and clicking out of my skiis to come across your video's you're posting up. F'in brilliant.

So enough of this nanny pavement footage, when are you going to get behind bars that are gripping a 21" front wheel instead of a 17" and show us some true Honk, in the bushes upside down and sideways stuff in the dirt?? Your fan club deserves it!!

    More footage like this:

    and this:

So pry Happy Feet away from his supercross track (and/or Bang Saen) and get some footage of chasing him along some singletrack.
  12. justin, a dirty video is in the pipeline.
however, at the moment i am sans dirtbike so it will have to wait.
maybe not that long though as the future for thailand is looking distinctly orange at the moment.........
  13. I have found the 1148 on Mapsource

What makes it such a good road, why is it deemed the best in Thailand

  14. I'm here!

    Hey Luke, recognise this?

I like the field of view of your cam, makes much better viewing.
  15. tony, the 1148 has the best surface, the best variety of corners, very little traffic, and its over 100kms long. this is why its the best in north thailand. other surfaces are just as good but dont have the corners or length of the 1148.
  16. And don't forget the scenery!

    Ride On!

  17. Very cool video, and the helmet camera mount is about as perfect as you can get.

Funny thing though..... after the video played, the YouTube recommendation that popped up was "Life in a Thai Jail!"
  18. Many thanks Luke and Tony. I have been working on some routes for my visit and think I have a pretty good one arranged ot take in this road so I look forward to reporting back.

  19. tony, please dont forget to ride the 1081 heading south from bo kluea.
the surface rivals 1148 and reallt ought not to be missed.
  20. Thanks, noted and mapped :) Looking forward

  21. Bump for some R1148 vdo
