i'm hoping to cycle from savannakhet east on route 9E to muang phin, and then had wanted to head south on route 23 to salavan, before making my way into the bolavan plateau. i understand the bridge (just outside of tat hai) is out, but are there boats crossing the river that could take me and my bicycle? is this a terrible idea? any advice about this stretch of road would be most welcome.
