Met up with Andrew at the MonKratang restaurant on the 1063 highway. Handy as they open at 07:00.
We headed north and then on to the Paradise road through Chiang Khong, Wiang Kaen, then up to the Doi Pha Tung ridge.
They have a one way system at the Banpot Wittaya School now. So, we rode 200m further to a car park area then walked up to the school.
But on the way, we found the old KMT army camp and a memorial room.
Fascinating. The tablets all appeared similar but the inscriptions slighty different. I assume it was the names of the former KMT soldiers.
The old camp buildings.
I assume this was later used by the Thai army.
The newer army camp building are a bit higher up near the school.
I see on Google maps that this school is now marked as being at Doi Sakura.
Seems we were there at peak blossom..
After riding the ridge and lunch at Miracle Coffee, we visited PhuSang waterfall.
Now you have to park in the National Park car park and sign in. We were asked vaguely about being jabbed, so vaguely replied in the affirmative, but no proof required, so no issues.
Later at the Phu Long Tung, Phaya Phipak viewpoint.
