Gobs, many thanks !! Nice one your red one and I can only confirm your Madam's statement !! Very comfortable. Good combination anyway Fazer 6 and F650GS.
Anyway, for me there's the plan but the funds are low right now so I'm gonna wait until there's more cash available and maybe you're gonna sell yours !!
Luke, nice one the 450, by the way is this Justin on your bike ?
Cheers, Franz

This is my current bike my Blue FZ6 08 model, many on the forum meet her but here's a picture of her. The FZ6 is just awesome in Thailand plenty power and fast enough, so easy to ride in twisties up North and on top of that I can ride on and on, longest one day run was 1014km in one day... Love the bike to death. I am considering a second bike but it's hard to make up my mind when this one serves me so good.

The picture is not recent as I done more to her, on the picture she has Arrow exhaust, Givi Tour Screen, Givi top rack and pannier mounts, Powercommander, Galfer, 520 conversion and rim strips plus some bits I find nice. Later removed the centerstand, changed to racetech suspension and changed to Valtermoto rearset will update the picture when I finally get home again...

The AT - god's gift to RTW bikers. Rock solid, reliable go forever...

Simon now what about a brief trip report Mae Sai - Phuket with your riding impressions: 3 ATs ridden on the one trip, including the GT Rider's old dog + RH's perfect machine (aint they all RH?)

 Plus Silverhawk can post that pic of a stationary AT beside the road north of Wiang Pa Pao.

This is my ozzie bike, its waiting for me to return to oz.

IMO, there's nothing like the buzz you get riding a 250 two stroke in the bush.

The suspension has been modified for enduro riding, but apart from that its a full on MXer.

I love the smell of two strokes in the morning.

YZ250.

Well here are the bikes I am using at the moment:
3bikes.jpg

2008 Yamaha Nouvo Elegance. Mainly for the wife, but I must admit I do jump on if I don't want to change out of my flipflops.

2010 model, bought 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 650R. For most of the donkey work, used everyday, already 2400 km inside 2 months but will take for a run to Chiang Mai next week, just to see how comfortable it is over 650km

2008 Yamaha FZ1. For when I want to have some fun and enjoy a bit of power.

2008 BMW R1200GS. For most of my riding with groups. For any trips where my wife goes, (she is not comfortable on the FZ1) For any trips where I suspect there might be unsurfaced or poor condition roads, and for the longer, need more luggage tours.

:D :D fixed your photo for you.
Just wondering though, how many kms have you got up on the Boss. It must be a few now & perhaps give Captn Slash on the Phantom a run for his money? 8)

Used to have the big LT and it was great for the long haul trips we took. But darn it, it was a 2000 with almost 80K miles on it and was starting to cost me a fortune to keep on the road. So had to sell, but great memories.

BakerLTC.jpg

The FJR is now the daily rider for work commute and everything else. Fast, comfortable, and does just about everything I want it to and 100% reliable so far with over 50K miles on her. But still a heavy machine and am looking for something lighter as an FJR stable mate for weekend blasts through the twisties.

FJRLonghornSaloon.jpg

How about this black Speed Triple? Beautiful, gobs of off-idle torque, and an intoxicating exhaust note with those Remus Hexacones. Now if the bugger down the street selling it will drop his price..............I know, just buy it already.

Hi David

Not us much as 't Captain... When we ran into each other quite by chance down near Chaya in the South he was not impressed with my speedometer! It's about 30,000 km in a couple of years, mostly this year. Two book projects in 10 months. About 18,000. All corners of Thailand and Cambodia (twice) and Laos from Pakse to Luang Prabang and back. A number of runs up to Chiang Mai and the various loops. It is an incredibly reliable and comfortable little machine. Sits on a 90-100 kph (although I go slower than that mostly since I hit a dog and fell off). Above 110 its gets wobbly. The Phantom is the same I believe although a bit quicker. Does 120 without shaking. One extra gear. For 2000 bucks they are amazing little machines and can be fixed for local prices in most towns..... Given the frame size they should both be 350s roughly.... But if you want to live with what is local they are really pretty good.

Cheers

Dan

CBR 400

P1030613.jpg

Pros:

Tough engine
Fast bike, comfortable at high speeds
Comfortable for about 600 km with luggage kit fitted
Narrow enough for cross-filtering in most cities
It's faster than most other bikes in Asia!

Cons:

Old machine (modern sports bikes outmatch it and are lighter too!)
Parts are fairly uncommon (but sourceable)
Heavy (200 kilos+ fully loaded) and awkward to manhandle in tight areas.
Low ground clearance
Full Fairing becomes a hinderance offroad.

Had it for a while now. No problems done about 10k on it :)
Paid only 75k baht for it in a small town :)
It's amazing where you can find good big bikes if you keep your eyes open :D

So Schackster you finally got 'em, good choice and also beautiful colours. Does the Ninja 650R now also come in this whitish colour or did you have a custom paint job ?? cheers, Franz

Franz, the white is actually OEM kawasaki but but not readily available in Thailand. They claim the white is produced for export only and they only release them in white occasionally. I had to pay an extra 10,000 baht to get it. Frankly, it really looks good in real life and worth the extra just to keep the Mrs happy

Agree fully with you BM! Keeping eyes wide open gives you many "good" surprises!.. As for looking in back yards or "under the dust, a gem"...
Many good "things" if one doesn't stay "blind"...

Ah, so many nice bikes, here!
Mmmmmmmmh, I'm dreaming of a hudge GTR meeting alltogether: all the bikes and their owners/riders... What a moment!

Cheers,
Gobs

Here are a few pictures of my ER6n, I enjoy working on bikes and like to add some bits and pieces to trick them out a little.
On the ER6 I have added some aftermarket plastics on the undertray, the rear hugger with lights and the belly pan, bit different from the standard. I fitted some crash bungs, braided brake lines and an akrapovic slip on. I had a two brothers slip on before but got rid of it because it was extremely loud in my opinion. The akrapovic is great, sounds good and as usual the quality of their kit is excellent.

The bike picture is just before the friendship bridge at the rivers edge up in Nong Kai.

Cheers,
