Does anyone know who rents out new KLXs or D trackers in North Thailand and will let you take the green book and stuff to get across to Laos.

I ask this because I saw the following a post a few days ago in the kawaski area:

" Then Yesterday the Snail Turned up on a Rented D-Tracker which He has just used on a Trip to Laos"

The Snail got his bikes from Mr Mechanic, but Pop might let you as well. You just need to put up a significant deposit / satisfactory surety for the return of the bike. So the big question from the shop for you to answer will be "who are you" that we would let you take one of our bikes to another country & bring it back in one piece.

Another option is to rent a bike in Laos, get either Jimoi at Remote Asia

or Thierry at Jules Classic Rental

to arrange for a bike at your nominated port of entry.

Thanks David for your detective work regarding the snails rental and your common sense response.

I can confirm that Pop will rent bikes out to go to Laos as we just got back from a trip with two of his KLX bikes.

All he asked for was a 10K deposit.

We didnt need the green books as copies were enough at customs.

trip report under preparation.
