GT Riders Google Map

The initial preview of a new GT Riders Google Map is now viewable… Its aimed at serving multiple purposes;

Providing a centralised, geographically correct resource for GT Riders recommended accommodations, restaurants, pubs etc
Providing online, illustrated maps of highways and loop rides
Providing online, illustrated maps of towns within the GT Riders Website Network

NB: Shows temples, pubs, hotels, restaurants, hot springs, barber, scenic shots etc.
Click on a few of the icons (temples are nearly all done) and note that there is an image on most, and links to more information on many…

Online examples include;

GT Rider: regional view, need to zoom in on a location.
Highway 1148: click on the road, click on the Landscape Icon
Highway 1149: click on the road, see the video
Chiang Rai
Mae Sariang
Nan
Fang

We can illustrate any Highway or Loop ride, using images already contained in GT-Rider posts…

This is being followed up (in February 2010) by an upgrade to the Forum software that will provide the ability to insert video clips into Trip Reports.

Forum Upgrade in Progress

We are upgrading the Forum to the latest version – phpBB 3 – so some interruptions to access may occur over the next day or two.

As part of this process, we are planing to enable placement of YouTube Video clips into Forum Topics
- that will no doubt please some people

The Chiang Mai Toy Ride has been going for 2 years with one main annual fund raising ride & then numereous small rides & charity events during the year to assist needy children & people in North Thailand who are under the radar & not receiving satisfactory support.

The Chiang Mai Toy Ride gallery starts with today’s 30th October 2009 charity event at San Tor School in Hang Dong district. More event photos will be added.

The Chiang Mai Toy Ride has a clear mission statement

To bring together motorcyclists of all nationalities in support of children in need living in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
To raise money, gifts and other items through charitable motorcycling events focusing on children who may otherwise be forgotten.
Our specific intent is to focus on events and donations which will put a smile on the children’s face and instill a sense of self confidence and assurance. The Chiang Mai ToyRide will also contribute to health and welfare needs in specific situations.
The Chiang Mai ToyRide will operate with complete transparency as a true charitable organization and assure that all available assets are directed toward our mission.
